Microsoft’s next generation of PC operating system will feature cross-platform support via Xbox Live.

According to Major Nelson’s blog, it’ll be called Xbox Live on Windows and will bring the console service’s gaming, music, movie and TV content to all Windows 8 devices.

“Bringing Xbox LIVE to Windows 8 is part of our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy,” read his post.

More detail on how it will work is expected at the BUILD conference later this week, where Microsoft will be talking developers through how to create Windows 8 games that take advantage of Xbox Live features.

How do you feel about cross-platform support? Shadowrun did use it, however, many gamers felt that their is an advantage on PC over the use of a traditional controller. Drop us a comment below!
