In the on-going battle between Harmonix and Viacom, Harmonix’s shareholders have being dealt a fresh blow with Viacom launching a fresh law suit, as the studio’s ex-owners seeks $131m.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Viacom claims “earn-out payments” made in its 2006 acquisition of the studio, intended to keep Harmonix management locked in after the deal was done, were miscalculated.
Viacom originally paid $150m for the developer and is seeking the majority of it back.
The claim follows on from Harmonix’s earlier claim that they are owed $13m on account of alleged unfair business practices.
Viacom sold Harmonix back to its management in a cut-price deal after the developer made a huge $65m loss in a single financial quarter.
