Valve’s Latest Move: “The Sacrifice” Web-Comic

Have you not witnessed enough zombies being mutilated as you play through every game mode and every new mutation in Valve’s sexy zombie-masher franchise? Do you find yourself missing the cast of Left 4 dead? Well fret not, you fiend, for Valve has released the first two parts of the web-comic titled “The Sacrifice”. This L4D comic will chronicle the adventures of the original cast of characters and has no shortage of that special flavor of violence we have all grown to love!

Now you might be pondering as to why you should bother scoping this out, right? Well Valve can definitely expand upon both the story itself as well as the background story of each character. At this point we’ve learned a little bit more about survivors Louis and Zoey and even seen Louis throw down and make his first zombie kill! The first of many…

If this comic really takes off and garners some attention I could see these sneaky bastards at Valve trying to utilize the L4D franchise to infiltrate other forms of media. Go on and take a peek at the latest blog poll up at www.l4d.com. They’re asking which form of media you would prefer to see the next comic installment released upon. Your options range from television, web-only, print, mobile device, or all of the above. Seems to me that these bold fellows are considering making even more moves with the hit L4D franchise and taking it to another level. It seems to be a rather clever idea utilizing this blog with a poll function that is accessible both on PC as well as the Left 4 Dead 2 menu on the Xbox 360. This nifty function allows these cautious fiends to both instill a deeper level of engagement with their gamer community, as well as to more accurately gauge which changes to make in the game and what not to change. Well played, you devious bastards…

The comic itself was a pretty fun read, the art looks crisp, and it’s free! Did I mention the free part? Check it out here: http://www.l4d.com/comic/comic.php?page=1

So take a look and don’t be shy to leave a comment and tell me what you thought about it and what you would like to see in future installments. Be sure to also keep an eye on these ambitious fellows at valve and do not be shocked when these guys begin to really push the Left 4 Dead franchise in our collective faces. The next installment of “The Sacrifice” comes out here soon, September 28th, and is then followed by the fourth part released on October 5th. Don’t you forget about that DLC, “The Sacrifice”, either! I’m going to need some solid shooters to back me in some dirty undead-grinding business, so I’ll see you fools out there!
