Lost Planet 2 Review!

As many of you Capcom fans are surely aware, the baller-status sequel to Lost Planet was released on May 11th and has been rapidly consuming my mind ever since. The third-person action is bound to rock your socks whether you decide to get down on the four-player co-op campaigns or the sixteen-player online versus mode. Despite a few minor grievances, there is much fun to be had on this one. Killing people is particularly satisfying, unlocking upgrades feels fairly rewarding, and punking dudes out online and doing some saucy emotes over their corpses is always a blast!

The Real Sexy

You must forgive the belated review; as I have been totally immersed in this game as of late. I am honestly at a loss as to where to begin when it comes to trying to convey just how fun this game can be. I could go on and on with stories of amazing kills, brilliant strategies, and tales of survival in the face of merciless onslaught. Running about on foot can be a blast, just dropping guys with your standard weapons or the good ol’ one-two combo; throwing a grenade near your opponent(s) and blowing it up in their surprised faces. Nothing celebrates the glorious act of murder like a well-timed e-mote. Yes, after the kill you can dance over their corpse. You could do some ninja moves, cheer like a buzzed teen-age girl, or flex over the fallen. Oh how I enjoy the e-motes!

The four-player campaign offers all sorts of opportunities to feel like a bad ass group of hardened snow pirates. Snow pirates that find themselves in all sorts of sticky situations just like the Super Friends! The story ditches the previous hero in favor of four nameless dudes from six different clans. To hell with ol’ Wayne anywho! The campaign has you and your homies showing akrid as well other pirates just who is the boss on E.D.N. III. You run about laying dudes out and jacking their data posts, thus establishing dominance. I really enjoy gathering credits by killing dudes and scooping up the packages they drop. It makes me feel as though I’m rolling on some bustas and stealing their presents…on their birthdays.

The weapons are awesome and only get sweeter as you unlock more. Piloting some of the Vital Suits can be blast. Some of these things can transform into like three different modes. It’ll make you feel like you’re playing some Gundam! There’s a particular VS that can transform into a jet and can go invisible while launching rockets! How rape is that? I have a crush on on that VS sniper rifle. It’s like a tank shot with a pin-point accurate sniper rifle attached.

The Real Ugly

What can I say about the game I did not like? Well where the hell is a party system? I get awfully frustrated trying to play some team elimination matches with my homies when I keep getting stuck on team retard with all the no-mic assholes and their equally silent life-partners. How hard would it have been to incorporate a party system? I would have greatly appreciated a chance to dodge all these douche-clowns that drain my battle meter. You can change teams for a few seconds before the match starts, but it seems that every cowardly gamer out there jumps on the team of the highest ranking dude; thus unbalancing the team, causing a 12 vs 4 match or some such nonsense. I suppose this gripe is more with the players than the actual game. You sons of whores know who you are! You yellow-belly limp-wristed tricks, always trying to jump on what you perceive to be the winning team! Oh how I loathe you!

Judgement: BUY

I would strongly suggest this game as a buy. Oh the fun I have had! The campaign provides a rich co-op experience, especially on that hard mode! The online versus has a handful of game modes that can be played with a variety of lay outs and weapons types; thus providing a varied experience every time you get down on this game. The chaotic battles with mad explosions, mysterious sniper fire, and giant fighting robots never fails to get my heart pumping. Despite the few flaws this game has, I still feel that this bitch is a “must-have”! BUY BUY BUY! Get this game and I can booty rape you online or hold your hand through the campaign!
